Project ANVESHANI (Search)

  • Based at Doddaballapur, 100 kms. From Bangalore , 40 local volunteers attached to GASS (grameena Abhyudaya Seva Samathe) trained in basic foot and diabetic care; also check blood sugar, BP.
  • Counseling in foot care, diet
  • Given basic salary, travel expenses
  • Volunteers visit about 200 villages; total population of 300,000
  • Counseling, basic checks done by “local” volunteers
  • Service provided free to this rural population
  • The intent is to take the “care” right to the doorsteps to rural patients. Similar project executed in Gowribidanur with help of Nobel Prize winning Handicap International of France.
 

Diabetic foot care is complimentary to vascular procedures, since patients need extensive foot care and counseling after vascular reconstruction, to heal the wounds. a well equipped diabetic foot clinic like ours can bring down the amputation rate in “diabetic foot” by more than 50%.

This project has now been extended to 2 other districts with the help of GASS and local volunteers.
